Hyderabad
is the capital city of the state of Andhra Pradesh.The
city is the fifth largest city in India with an ancient
civilisation and culture.Hyderabad was founded on the
River Musi five miles east of Golconda, in 1591-92 by
Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah. Attached to the city is its
twin , Secunderbad, which is part of Hyderabad. The twin
cities of Hyderabad and Secunderbad are separated by the
Husain Sagar, an artificial lake constructed during the
time of Ibrahim Quli Qutb Shah Wali in 1562 A.D.The city
is nearly 400 years old and is noted for its natural
beauty, mosques and minarets, bazaars and bridges, hills
and lakes.

Charminar, or Four
Towers was built by Sultan Mohammad Quli Qutb Shah in 1591. The
Charminar is a magnificent square edifice of granite, built upon
four grand arches facing north, south, east and west with 56 meters
high slender minarets and spiral staircases. It is these four
(char) minarets (minar) that give the building, its name 'Charminar'.
The majestic ruins of
Golconda stands as a backdrop to the city of Hyderabad. The orginal
fort was built by Kakatiyas in 1143. It went to the hands of Bahmani
Kings in (1364-1507). Quli Qutub-ul- Mulk declared Golconda as an
independent Kingdom and assumed the title of Sultan Quli Qutub Shahi
I. The original mud fortress was strengthened during the next 62
years.
The Hussain Sagar
Lake connects the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
On the banks of the placid waters of the Hussain Sagar a water front
or bund was constructed to arrest the flow of water on the other
side. A major attraction at the Hussain Sagar is the 16 meter high,
350 tonne monolithic Buddha statue on the Rock of Gibraltar.

Qutb Shahi Tombs
The
park is located in Vanasthalipuram, about 15 kilometers from the
center of the town. The deer park, has an undulating terrain, of 189
hectares dominated by acacia trees. The park looks picturesque in
the monsoon with the golden and white flowers of these trees on the
lush green carpet of grass.
Warangal is a
district of lakes, temples and rich wildlife. Warangal, the
headquarters of this district, was once the capital of Kakatya
Empire. The city is also mentioned in Marco Polo's travel diary. The
city is 157km from Hyderabad and is well connected with other places
of the state via rail and road.
The tombs are made of
black granite or green stone with a shape of square or octagonal
base. Its dome is in onion shape and arches are with fine
sculptures.

This harvest festival
is celebrated for 3 days in Mid January. The first day is Bhogi that
is spent with gaiety. The second day is Sankranthi when the sun
enters the Makara Rasi (the zodiac sign of Capricorn). The
third day is Kanuma.

temperature is 38 degrees Celsius, minimum temperature 12
degrees Celsius, annual rainfall less than 200 mm. Hyderabad is
fairly warm throughout the year and does not receive much
rainfall in the monsoon. Temperatures falls down during
September to December. June to November are monsoon months. The
best season to visit Hyderabad is between October-February.
