Pazhassi Raja Museum Kozhikode Beach Manachira Square

The Museum is located at East Hill, 5 km from the city. Tourists can have a glimpse of the rich historic past of Kozhikode in the Pazhassiraja Museum. The state archaeological department runs this museum. The various galleries within this museum have an extensive collection of artefacts that range from ancient coins, bronze objects, copies of ancient murals, etc., depicting the rich cultural heritage of this region..

The Beach is located on the eastern part of the city.The beach offers the leisure-seekers a long stretch of endless sandy beach. You can see and enjoy the glorious spectacle of the setting sun from this beach. The calicut airport is at Karipur, 29 km from the city.The major cities in india are connected with daily flights to Calicut.

The Calicut railway station is a major stop for all the trains passing through. There are trains  connecting Calicut to all major destinations including Delhi, Bombay, Goa Madras, Coimbatore Cochin & Trivandrum.
 

The KSRTC bus stand has services to Trivandrum, Kochin, Bangalore etc. The  new bus stand on Stadium Road operates services to Kalpetta, Badagara, Kannur and Tellicherry.

Onam Festival Malabar Mahotsavam Lokanarkavu Festival

The Taj Mahotsav festival is held in Shilpgram about 1km from the easten gate of taj. Taj Mahotsav is a culturally vibrant platform that brings together the finest Indian crafts and cultural nuances.

Malabar Mahotsavam is a cultural extravaganza that showcases the centuries old rich cultural heritage of Kerala. The event is at Mananchira maidan (ground) in the heart of Kozhikode town from 13th to 16th January every year.

Mandala Utsavam is the forty-one day annual festival at the Lokanarkavu Bhagavathy Temple near Vadakara in Kozhikode. This is the only temple where a peculiar folk dance called Thacholikali is presented.

The Calicut suffers a humid climate with a very hot season extending from March to May. The  rainy season is during the South West Monsoon which sets in the first week of June and extends up to September. Best time to visit Calicut is during December to March. From October onwards, the temperature gradually increases to reach the maximum in May, which is the hottest month of the year.

S.M. Street is the busiest shopping area in the city of Calicut and famous for its innumerable sweetshops. Those willing to see or buy the traditional boats of Kerala should go to Beypore, which is barely half an hour's journey from Calicut. Plain and printed cottons or calicos available by the roll on SM Road and is a speciality of this town. Also try the Comtrust weaving centre in Beypore, 11 kilometres away.
