The Dargah Taragarh Fort Mayo College

At the foot of a barren hill, is situated India's most important Pilgrimage center for people from all faith.It is the splendid tomb of the Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, more popularly known as Khwaja Sharif.

The Taragarh Fort is one of the prominent places to see in Ajmer . The Taragarh Fort is located on top of a hill and was constructed by the Chauhan king Ajaypal Singh in the 7th century.The fort offers a breathtaking view of Ajmer city.
 

One of Indian's best public schools located in the south east of the city. It was founded in 1875 A.D. only for the princes. Each prince along with his entire retinue and an English tutor had his own house in the spacious college grounds covering 81 hectares. Now it is a public school open to all.
 

Pushkar Lake Ana Sagar Lake Adhai-Din-Ka-Jhonpra

The lake is situated on the edge of the desert and surrounded by hills on three sides, is separated from Ajmer by 'Nag Pahar'-the snake mountain. On this mountain the Panchkund and the cave of the saint Agastya are located.
 

A beautiful artificial lake, Ana Sagar Lake was built by Anaji between 1135-1150 AD. Later the Mughal Emperors made additional constructions to beautify the Lake. While the Baradari, a beautiful marble pavilion, was built by Shah Jehan, Jehangir added the Daulat Bagh Gardens.
 

A remarkable structure, this is a masterpiece of Indo Islamic architecture located on the outskirts of the city. Just beyond the Dargah. It was originally a Sanskrit college, built within a temple. In 1193 A.D. Mohammad Ghauri conquered Ajmer and converted the building into a mosque.

The nearest airport is Jaipur which is 135kms away.

Ajmer is also accessible by train, as it is located on the main Delhi-Jaipur-Ahmedabad-Mumbai line. Most of the trains on this route stop at Ajmer.

Urs Ajmer Sharif

Held in the holy town of Ajmer in honour of the Sufi saint, Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.People of all religions visit the Dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. The Khwaja left for heavenly abode in 1256 AD after a six day prayer in seclusion. These six days are celebrated every year as the annual Urs, which is attended by innumerable pilgrims irrespective of their faith.
